In/Exhale Continues

So sorry for the delay this week! We lost power around 4PM yesterday and didn't regain it until 3AM this morning! It's very hot here so hubby and I didn't get much sleep and then we had to empty the fridge because we were so long without power, then go to the store to restock, among other things.

Previously on In/Exhale: Despite some positive moments in Kai's school day (including interpreting for the ASL club officers and deciding to take the first step toward a major in education), Kai crashes and burns. He confesses to Renee about his traumatic stay in the JMH psych ward, how he lost control and nearly hurt someone and attempted suicide. Suicidal thoughts hit him powerfully, and with Kai desperate to stay out of the hospital and not wanting to worry Jon, Renee decides to stay with him. They spend the morning together in bed, talking, and Renee reassures Kai that she will stand by him no matter what.

This Week on In/Exhale: Renee accompanies Kai to his morning session with Dr. Miller, filling in the gaps in Kai's memory so that she understands how erratic his mood has been lately. Kai's feeling discouraged and depressed, but Dr. Miller reassures him that he can be helped and he can succeed, even if she's concerned that Kai's mood problems may be a sign of something other than his PTSD. Kai goes to his appointment with his nutritionist, who warns him that he needs to start eating more regularly, but assures him that she will do everything she can to help him.

Next Week on In/Exhale: Kai has his cognitive testing and meets with his neurologist who manages his memory and cognition issues since his transplant. After, Kai tries his best to study, but he can't focus and ends up at Lost Apple, where Art takes him on a little field trip to give Kai some perspective.

February 8, 2001 - Part II

Thanks, as always to those of you who take the time to read my story, as different as it is, and even more to those who comment. I read everyone's comments even if I don't always reply, so don't hesitate to do so. If you have a particular question or issue about the story, I'll do my best to respond to it in a spoiler-free way!

PS - If you've forgotten what Kai and his pals got up to in the first part of Season 3, you can read the "Previously On..." to refresh your memory. Or you can hit the updated Table of Contents to re-read any episode. Also keep in mind that I'm posting each complete chapter (day) on my blog once it's all posted here, so you can read them in their entirety if you prefer that format. I also accept comments (including anonymous ones) there if you prefer. Happy reading!
