In/Exhale Continues

Hey, everyone! Hope you had a good weekend and are ready for more of Kai's adventures!

This week's episode has one of my favorite scenes. That one, and the one that follows it (which you'll get to read next week) were two I considered deleting for space since this day is so long, but finally concluded they were far too important to remove. Next week I may give you all a two-parter, but no decisions yet. It really depends how far along I am with some changes I'm making to the February 9 chapter.

Previously On In/Exhale: Kai admitted to Renee how strong his suicidal thoughts can be, and she stayed the night with him, then attended his session with Dr. Miller the following morning to give her a better picture of Kai's mood lately. The doctor is becoming increasingly concerned for Kai's safety, but she knows she needs to tread carefully to keep Kai's trust. She brings up the idea of another hospitalization, which Kai admits he probably needs, but won't agree to until he's seen the new hospital in Omaha. Kai also has his appointment with his nutritionist, who warns Kai that he needs to eat more or he'll get very sick and that his poor eating habits may be contributing in part to some of his psychiatric symptoms, but he's had issues in the past, and she's confident they can work together and get him through it again.

This Week On In/Exhale: Kai has his cognitive testing and a follow-up with his brain doctor, who monitors Kai's memory and communication issues. Kai is doing his best to get through his day, but his depression stalks him. He finally ends up at Lost Apple. Art, recognizing Kai's low mood for what it is, decides to invite him on a field trip where he tells Kai some very important things about his sons.

Next Week on In/Exhale: Kai's field trip with Art concludes and Kai heads to Martin's for their weekly afternoon movie watching, but he's in for a surprise.

February 8, 2001 - Part III

Remember, if you've forgotten what Kai and his pals got up to in the first part of Season 3, you can read the "Previously On..." to refresh your memory. Or you can hit the updated Table of Contents to re-read any episode. Also keep in mind that I'm posting each complete chapter (day) on my blog once it's all posted here, so you can read them in their entirety if you prefer that format. I also accept comments (including anonymous ones) there if you prefer. Happy reading!
