In/Exhale Continues

Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians!

Previously On In/Exhale: Kai has been struggling with his PTSD and depression, especially his suicidal thoughts. He's turned to Renee more than once, and they've gotten closer, but the fact that he plans to visit the new psych hospital hovers over both of them. After a crisis, Martin ends up back in the hospital where he gets the bad news that his heart is failing. Although Jon reassures Inez that it may actually be a way for Martin to get on the transplant list sooner, he makes her promise not to tell Martin until it's a sure thing.

This Week on In/Exhale: Kai experiences his interpreters in his psych class for the first time and spends some time with Steve, but they're interrupted by a distressed call from Martin.

Next Week on In/Exhale: Kai puts all his selfish problems on hold to be there for Martin. However, it forces him to cross tracks with a significant person from his past, which pushes Kai's precarious mood to the brink.

February 9, 2001 - Part II

So I've decided that I WILL go ahead and post my other story (the one with the blind character) here. Probably on... I think it was Thursdays that are free? Anyway, one of the weekdays that's free. Not sure when I'll start because I've decided to use this opportunity to start fresh and change the time from summer to winter, and I haven't had a chance to work on it other than jotting down some ideas. And next week I'll be going to Mayo (to consult with an expert on my type of headache), so there will be an episode of I/E but I may not have one for the following Monday. I'll have to see how everything goes.

Thanks for your support!

Oh, and last week I accidentally forgot to update the Table of Contents and previous posts for easier navigation. It's been fixed.

PS - Remember, if you've forgotten what Kai and his pals got up to in the first part of Season 3, you can read the "Previously On..." to refresh your memory. Or you can hit the updated Table of Contents to re-read any episode. Also keep in mind that I'm posting each complete chapter (day) on my blog once it's all posted here, so you can read them in their entirety if you prefer that format. I also accept comments (including anonymous ones) there if you prefer. Happy reading!

  1. I know there are no rules right now for posting two stories at once because nobody has ever done it so far. I think Thursday is taken right now. I think having one author claim two days might not be entirely fair.... I've sadly had to turn one or two people away a few months ago because at the time every day was taken, and I'd hate to keep doing that.

So if you are planning to do a second story, please post it on the SAME DAY that you are posting the first story. You can post four stories on Monday if you'd like. But I'd like the blog to have variation in the authors that are posting.

Also, if there's a day that nobody seems to be posting and you've got a chapter raring to go, feel free to post. But I think it's fair to allow each author to CLAIM only one day.

    Thanks for understanding.

    1. Oh wow... OK... well. Maybe I'll just post on my blog instead then as having two stories on one day is too much for me and would probably mean one would get ignored... I totally see your point and I wouldn't be "claiming" another day, especially since I had always posted on Tuesdays and someone else was so I took a day no one was using...

Only I think four days are being used right now so I figured if I took one no one was using atm it would be fine... :/

    2. Btw I realized it was Wednesdays that no one has been using lately... I think that was what I was thinking of. This story wouldn't be posted weejkybmost likely like I/E but I guess I could alternate... I hate posting on Mondays, honestly, but when I came back it was the only free day. There's no way I could manage posting two stories on Monday.

    3. I have some information that you don't, which is that I recently approved a new author, and additionally, an established author expressed that they will start posting again soon. So I would have to send one of them away entirely if you claim a second day. That doesn't seem right.

You are welcome to change your day if you hate Monday to anything that is free except for Friday.

    4. I would rather love to read the new stories from other authors and sorry, no offense, you do a really tough job on writing your saga, but to my opinion, it's not bad to sometimes take a break from it, since it is too much (for me) sometimes. Sorry, this is just what I think. I would definitely prefer to read your story with the blind guy here... Please don't get me wrong.

    5. Wow, OK... I wasn't going to "claim" a second day. I would have been totally open to someone else who wanted to post regularly to post on that day... But point well taken.

    6. What days are free, then? Because in the last few weeks it seemed like there were 2-4 days free, which was part of why I didn't think it would be a big deal if I occasionally posted on another day than my usual Mondays for this second story?

...And @Anon I just came back from like a year break on my other story...

    7. I think the only free days right now are Wednesday and Sunday. At the moment, nobody is posting on Tuesday, but Adele has expressed that she will likely return in the near future and that has been her day so it seems like people are leaving it free out of respect.

It's fine if you occasionally post on another day as Lovis did last week. But you said it was a serial story and it sounded like you were expressing intention to post weekly or at least most weeks. That would likely prevent anyone else from posting that day because they might not want to step on your toes.

I'm sorry if this sounds unreasonable. I'm just trying to keep a variety of authors on here and have free space for new people. I don't think it's such a big deal if you claim a day and make a couple of updates on the same day. Lots of people post two chapters on one day so it's kind of the same.

Ultimately, I might have to revise the rule about not allowing two people to post on the same day....

    8. My intention was never to steal a day from another writer. The main reason I was thinking diff days was for practicality and bc the two stories are so diff they'd likely attract a very diff audience.

    9. Chie, I'm not sure what you want the outcome of this to be. Do you want me to email the new author and tell her there's no room for her to post at all because other authors are taking two days?

    10. No! Of course not! I was just trying to explain why I had originally planned to post on diff days, esp since the story blog had been pretty quiet... I may just post the other story on my blog instead for now bc I don't want to take attention away from In/Exhale.

    11. That sounds fine. You're welcome to post the story here on the day that you already claimed or put it on your blog. Either way, I'm sure you'll have a good audience for it.

    12. Would it be OK for me to switch to Wednesday (from Monday)? I believe you said that day was currently free. It might make it more feasible for me to eventually post the second story here since Mondays are very hectic for me. If not, I understand.

    13. It's absolutely okay to switch days.

I hope you don't take any of this personally. This is just the best way to keep things fair. I had to say the same thing to Hartmann when she wanted to post more frequently and she made the decision to start her own site to allow her to post as much as she wanted.

    14. Yeah, no I understand and I never intended to take away from any other writers. I think what I may try is posting one story early in the morning and one later in the afternoon/evening. That way I'm still using only one day but they're spaced apart so one doesn't dominate the other.

    15. So I just saw someone posted today... So I guess I'm stuck with Monday... oh well 😔

    16. I just looked. Given the last word of that story is "the end", I don't think it's a multipart story. So it looks like the day is still available.

But I hope you see my point now that the story blog is fairly crowded already.

  2. So glad to hear that you've decided to post the NaNoWriMo story! So excited! Thank you!

  3. Oh Chie. Maybe you could post the other story during an I/E season break? That wouldn't make the break too hard for us :-)

    1. My hope had been that making myself meet a regular posting (even if it's not weekly) & getting your feedback would be a great way to keep the story going and encourage me to get a draft finished. If I waited for a break in I/E then idk if that would work, since I'm hoping to start in the rewrite soon...
