No Stories Today

My father passed away this morning.

My mother got a call as she and my sister were coming to pick me up so we could go to the hospital. We had planned to remove him from life support yesterday, but due to the hospital's delays were unable to and had decided to do so early today. Instead, he left us first. He held out long enough to see my sister when she came back from Cuba.

My father and I had a very tumultuous relationship (that you may see come out in Jon's relationship with his adoptive father or Santiago's relationship with his father, among other relationships in my fiction), and yet it's still difficult to lose someone so integral in your life.

The next few days I'll be focused on helping my mom with final arrangements and helping her cope, but I do hope to have something for your next week. Probably not In/Exhale, although I *will* be continuing that story as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your support and understanding.

  9. Chie, I'm very sorry for your loss. I know a little bit how you feel, I lost my father in 1997, he was only 56. And within three months my husband's father also passed away at age 56. It was a rough year for us. I was close to my dad and I am so sad that he never met his grandkids. I still think of him often and I see him when I look in the mirror. There are moments when I long so much to be able to sit with him over coffee and talk. Again, so sorry for you loss.
