Footsteps - Chapter Seventeen is up

Wow, hi. It's been a while... I made you guys wait for this one, didn’t I? I'm sorry about that. Turns out after my post on Friday that a few of you do remember what’s going on in this story, and who I am, so thank you! I'm really touched by your comments. I’ll put in a ‘read more’ so that I don’t clog up an entire page with this intro/explanation to the latest chapter which has become a small essay…

So I’ve had a really strange time with lots of big highs (got married, whodathunkit!) and some other big lows (lost a life-long friend more recently), and for a number of other reasons as well, I’ve not been on the site at all before last week, except for one brief visit back in early 2017. I also haven’t wanted to write this latest chapter for some reason, but with an unintentional kick up the backside from someone, I sat down and splurged 5000+ words of it in one day. It was promptly edited the following day, don’t worry. I ended up with a 10,000+ word ‘chapter’, and the ending kept getting shunted further and further back as I added things in as they came to me. I decided I had to include them, and so one chapter became… more.

Not going to lie, when I was writing the earlier chapters, this one wasn’t supposed to turn out quite like this. It’s a little bit angsty, more than a bit fluffy, and kinda steamy at the end, but I really hope you guys like it. I was worried that my writing style has perhaps changed a bit since the last posts, but Lovis (thank you thank you thank you) read through some of this and said it still felt the same.  As ever, you’ll have to let me know, and I really appreciate your feedback.

I probably won’t be posting anything on here again for a while once this story is over, but I do have the cowboy/dude ranch one on the go. Other than that, I’m working on a new big one with two new characters, and I hope I can introduce you to Eve and Jamie at some point in the future. Eve is a bit like Sam if you read Cambridge Connections, in that she’s a bit of a tough girl but she has her vulnerabilities, and Jamie’s a glasses-wearing, sweetheart, art historian in a chair, so we’ll see where that ends up. I’m going to learn from my previous blogging experiences on here though and write the whole thing first and then just post it in instalments.

After this chapter, I anticipate one more chapter from Footsteps (to be posted next Tuesday), and one the week after that as a kind of coda.
Well, anyway that’s quite enough rambling from me.
