Long Term - Chapter 1
"Hello." The woman at the front desk was about my age. She wore an old-fashioned braid and looked at her computer screen instead of at me. Her voice sounded drained, as if the excessive use of this greeting formula during the previous hours of her shift at the counter had cost her all energy.

Long Term - Chapter 2
As always, I took the streetcar to the hospital. It glided through unfamiliar streets on the edge of downtown, past closed rows of multi-story townhouses. The closer I got, the more I recognized the surroundings. I’d stayed in almost every remotely accessible hotel around here by now—only this time I’d booked so late I’d ended up further out than usual.

Long Term - Chapter 3
In the underground garage, I almost had to run to keep up with Adam, cursing my heels under my breath. If I’d known I wouldn’t be spending the weekend sitting at Adam's bedside, I’d have dressed differently.

Long Term - Chapter 4
Since I lived in a big city and therefore didn't own a car, I hadn't booked a parking spot at the hotel. This oversight turned out to be my first mistake, because although Adam drove the van around the spacious parking lot twice, we found no space where he could park and unfold the ramp. There were a few free spaces, but always only individual spots with cars parked on the right and left sides. Not enough room for Adam. We briefly debated whether it would be worth going into the lobby to talk to someone and possibly convince them to move their car, but decided against it given the low prospect of success. Instead, we drove around the streets surrounding the hotel.

Long Term - Chapter 5
I held the door open while Adam steered the powerchair through. Then I set the room key and our backpacks on the small mirrored table and stepped beside him. "Well?" I asked, a little nervous despite everything.
I still relied mainly on Adam to judge how accessible a room really was.
"More than enough space," Adam noted with an amused glance up at me.

Long Term - Chapter 6
Adam leaned his head against my hand and pressed his lips to my palm.
Keep going. He didn't have to say that twice.
I concentrated on the incredible thin skin below his ear, where I knew he was exceptionally sensitive. Taking my sweet time I kissed, nibbled and licked the spot until he practically writhed beneath me—if you could call the movement of his shoulders that. It came pretty close anyway. His breathing was rapid, his eyes glassy.
