In/Exhale Continues

I want to give a huge thank you for those of you who took the time to leave such wonderful comments last week. It really means so much for me to know that you guys are enjoying my story so much and also getting something from it as well. :)

This week focuses on Kai and David, each in their own adventures, so fans of Renee and Jon will be disappointed. Sorry! But there will be plenty of everyone in the next couple days, so don't worry. :)

Just a little reminder again: Everything that David experiences in this episode is inspired by real events that happened to various Deaf people I've encountered.

Part of the reason I wanted to write this part of David's life is because not only is it a crucial element of his story, but also is something that I think a lot of hearing people are completely oblivious to.

Previously on In/Exhale: Jon rushed to the hospital to try to prevent CPS from taking Harriet's child, but in the process backed out on his promised swim date with Kai, causing a huge fight. Kai swam away his anger all morning and missed his session with Dr. Miller, but he did run into Steve and the promise of a new friendship. Kai then dropped by Martin's house to hang out and watch movies, a way of cheering up a lonely, sick kid Kai can commiserate with. Jon and Vicky found out they're having a son.

This Week on In/Exhale: Thursday continues and Kai ends up revealing a lot more to Martin about his life pre-transplant than he ever anticipated. Meanwhile, David has an important job interview that he handles well despite an unexpected complication.

Next Week on In/Exhale: We finish Thursday, in which Kai ends up finally talking about what the transplant was like before and after. Vicky talks to her sister Roni for advice and consolation. And Jon drops by to console Vicky in a whole other way.

Skin and Scars Chapter 8

Hello everyone! It's Friday. Which pretty much means Updateday! This chapter is on the short side, but what it lacks in word count, it makes up for in substance. Wishing everyone a lovely weekend and enjoy. : )

In/Exhale Continues

Thank you guys once again for your comments. It's nice to know I have a small, but loyal group of readers who enjoy my crazy little saga. :)

This week is the first part of a three-part day that largely focuses on Jon, Kai, and David and has some events that step up for things that will happen a bit later in the season. But don't worry. Renee returns big time for the following day (February 2), when things begin to come to a head for our two lovebirds.

Previously on In/Exhale: Kai tells Renee about his hearing loss. Jon comforts Kai when he wakes up confused at Vicky's house, then consoles him over pie. Last season, while waiting to see Dr. Johnsen, Kai runs into a young patient of Jon's and offers to answer any questions the kid might have about living with FS.

This week on In/Exhale: Jon makes a decision that affects his relationship with Kai. Kai and Steve spend some time together. Vicky has her mid-pregnancy ultrasound and she and Jon learn the sex of their baby. Kai visits a beloved character from last season.

Next week on In/Exhale: David goes for an important job interview, but an unexpected complication arises that throws a wrench in his plans. Kai reveals things about his past that he normally never talks about.

February 1, 2001 - Part I

I've updated the Table of Contents, as always. If you'd like to refresh your memory on the two episodes in which we see the character who makes a reappearance at the end of this episode, you can check them out here: October 31, 2000 - Part II, November 2, 2000.

Oh, and I just wanted to add that the events that happen at the beginning of this episode are inspired by real experiences I've heard from the Deaf community. I know a lot of you are always asking about how much of I/E is based on reality and how much is totally fiction. :)

Thanks again and I'll see you next week!

Here is chapter 7 in Aaron and Julia's world. Thank you for your patience.

Ristretto Chapter 2

Hey Everyone! I want to thank you all for the awesome comments on my first post!! I'm incredibly excited and happy that it seems as though my Deaf wheeler has some fans. I'm also sorry its taken ages for me to post a second chapter. My life is insanely busy, but I will post as often as I can. As I continue, this story should be pretty interesting [read: weird]. I also want to thank Chie. She's incredibly kind and has helped me tweak my story here and there. She is our resident expert on the Deaf community after all!

A note on how I write ASL... As we've learned through Chie, ASL is not simply signed English and therefore the language must be interpreted. I've chosen to write ASL as I would interpret the meaning behind each's character's signs. I typically put ASL in italics and things spoken but not signed, are not italicized.

Lastly, if you're in NYC there is a revival of Spring Awakening fully in ASL as well as in English, with Deaf cast members and a girl wheeler. I saw it last week and was moved to tears. It was beautiful.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoy, please let me know what you think. <3 Yuki

Basically, at the very bottom of life, which seduces us all, there is only absurdity, and more absurdity. And maybe that's what gives us our joy for living, because the only thing that can defeat absurdity is lucidity. - Albert Camus

Three's A Crowd Chapter 38

Hello my friends, another week has gone by and here is Chapter 38 of TAC for you to enjoy. In this week's installment things are looking up for Jesse and Trish and Shawn will share some more intimate moments.
I want to thank everyone for their comments and feedback last week. It made me very happy to see that people are reading and enjoying the story. I am sure for all writers, amateurs and professional, feedback and comments from their readers mean so much and especially here where we are writing about not so main stream issues and with our writing basically opening up a very intimate part of ourselves to strangers, knowing that we are doing an o.k. job and hearing that from the readers, means so much and is the juice that keeps us going and letting people who understand in on all the things that are in our heads. So thanks so much for reading and commenting, you guys rock!
Hugs, Dani

In/Exhale Continues

I'm really glad you guys enjoyed last week's Christmas episode! Thank you so much for all your comments!! It was so lovely to check in all week and see what you all had written and to know you liked seeing another side of Vicky that's been previously hidden due to the structure of the story. :)

This week is another double-episode with a lot going on! We'll get to spend some time with Megan (David's fiancee) and George (the interpreter) with some insights into Deaf culture and the complexities of needing/using an interpreter. We'll also get to see Joanna Johnson (aka Jo) and Vicky, plus Jon and Kai of course, and Renee, too! In fact, the opening and ending scenes are some of my favorites of the season.

Just a quick refresher on one of the terms used in this episode in case you've forgotten: Strong Deaf - it refers to someone who comes from a multigenerational Deaf family in which many family members are Deaf. Megan comes from a strong Deaf family, as does George.

Previously on In/Exhale: Kai went in for some routine tests but a major panic attack landed him in the hospital. He avoided a 72-hour psych hold, but he's still having some problems with nausea and his blood pressure so they kept him overnight. Vicky has the hopes that she can keep their small family together despite her pregnancy threatening to tear Jon in two, and so she remodeled her house to make it as welcoming to Kai as possible. Kai, Vicky, and Jon spent Christmas Eve at her house, but Kai still hasn't made any decisions about living situations yet.

This week on In/Exhale: Renee sneaks in an early-morning visit at the hospital and is surprised when Kai doesn't kick her out of his room. Kai struggles to keep his food down so that he can be discharged, and ends up having to bum a ride from an unlikely person. Megan gets thrown into a tense interpreting situation, and Jon has a difficult patient. Kai is in for an unwelcome surprise, proving that the road to hell really is paved with good intentions.

Three's A Crowd Chapter 37 Part 2

Hi my friends, here we are again, Wednesday. Here is Chapter 37 Part 2  of  TAC. This week's chapter is a bit longer again, following the developments of Jesse's upcoming surgery and some not so good moments Shawn experiences with his brother. Hope you enjoy it. I can't help but notice a decline in the numbers of readers and comments. I know when there was sex people felt different I guess. I am thankful to some loyal readers and commentators who always let me know they are out there reading this story even if there is no sex. I guess my thoughts don't always run around the sexual part of being a dev, there is so much more to it for me and I am staying true to my writing and my style and I guess the story is not only about the dev/wheeler relationship but just people going through life. I still believe this here is the right place for me to share my hobby with you guys and as some merely enjoy the more sexual moments I hope some also enjoy the story as a whole and I am thankful to each and every one of you of being part of my journey as a writer, Hugs, Dani

A Very In/Exhale Christmas

Hey, everyone! I hope you all had a good Labor Day weekend for those of you in the US!

Last Week on In/Exhale: Kai met with Dr. Trent, a psych resident who determined Kai didn't need to stay on as a psych patient, to his great relief.

This Week on In/Exhale: A Christmas special! Go back a couple months and see how Kai, Jon, and Vicky celebrated Christmas Eve together. Kai is fresh out of the hospital after his GI infection and still very much recovering, but Vicky invites him and Jon to spend Christmas at her house and see the renovations she made for Kai.

Next Week on In/Exhale: A special double-episode in which we see how the events of the day before affect Kai, Renee, Jon, and Vicky, including Kai revealing something unexpected to Renee. And a huge incident that could potentially affect Kai's relationship with Jon and Vicky.

Originally, I intended this episode to be one installment but it was just a little too long for that, so I broke it into two pieces for easier reading. Also, keep in mind this glimpse at Christmas focuses exclusively on Kai, Jon, and Vicky, so I'm sorry that Renee fans may be disappointed. However, I hope this gives you a new perspective on Vicky (and Kai and Vicky's relationship) as we move into next week's episode!

As always, the Table of Contents has been updated. And thank you for the few of you who do take the time to not only read my crazy story but to comment on it. Reading your comments really carries me through each week and encourages me to keep posting.

Another Newbie Attempt

Hello everyone! Another new writer here... I have been a reader and anonymous commentator for some time and finally decided to post one of my stories here. Hope you enjoy this one!

English is not my first language, I have to admit. I am giving my best but I am known for using words that do not exist or using words in the wrong context. If you find errors, please point them out to me.

Also I should maybe mention that this one shot is essentially porn. So... don't expect a very complex storyline =) No other warnings apply, though.

Enjoy (and comment)!

Three's A Crowd Chapter 37 Part 1

Hi friends, another very busy week behind me and that is unfortunately a reason why I had to cut this week's chapter a bit short. I just haven't had enough time to edit and work on TAC but I wanted to at least post something for my loyal readers. Here is Chapter 37 Part 1 for you to enjoy. I am thankful for your loyalty and am always happy to read your comments to know that people actually read the story. Thanks and Hugs, Dani

In/Exhale Continues

So I have a slight change of plans! Back in the fall, I started working on a Christmas episode of I/E that I had hoped to post around Christmas as a little tidbit between seasons, but I got stuck on what gift Vicky gave Jon. (Silly, right?) Anyway, I was working on the January 31 pair of episodes and I remembered that a lot of you guys don't like Vicky, and I was worried that she would come off wrong in those episodes without the background context of Christmas. So I went back to that episode and finished it off and I'll be posting that next week instead of January 31. I know it's a little weird to have a "flashback" that only happened a month before in the middle of the season, but I hope you all will enjoy it and it'll give you some background you might have been missing otherwise.

Last Week on In/Exhale: Kai had a major panic attack in his derm's office and ended up admitted. Jon confesses to Vicky how heavily the weight of the past few months has been affecting him.

This Week on In/Exhale: The long day finally ends as Kai is seen by a psych resident who will determine his fate.

Next Week on In/Exhale: Special Christmas episode! Curious how Jon and Kai spent last Christmas? Kai, freshly released from the hospital after his GI infection agrees to spend Christmas Eve with Jon at Vicky's house. There's gifts and a tree and even Christmas movies. Stay tuned!

January 30, 2001 - Part III

Thank you, as always, to those of you who take the time to comment each week. It reminds me that people do care about my crazy saga and motivates me to keep sharing the story.

As always, I've updated the Table of Contents.
